Family, Friendship, And Faith During Life's Challenging Moments

Good morning all! Today is beautiful in Texas. The sun is shining, the air is crisp and cool (finally). A perfect day to get outside and explore. Today's post is a little more introspective. A very lovely friend of mine has experienced sudden and heartbreaking news. Her family will be going through some gut wrenching, emotional peaks and valleys during the next few months. For privacy and respect, I will not divulge any more than this, but wish to expand on the importance of family, friendship, faith, and self-care during life's challenging moments. Family isn't necessarily the one you are born into, family is what you make of it.  I saw a quote where someone stated:

"Family is where life begins and love never ends."

Love that!  We all need love and a sense of belonging, to be connected to other humans. It's powerful. Hug your family today.

Friendship to me are those we choose and adopt them as family. I am talking about the friends that are there, through the nitty-gritty, as well as the fun times. There are different levels of friendships for sure, and all are important, but you know who you can count on when you desperately need to escape reality for a bit, to regain a sense of sanity. Friends that make us cry from laughing so hard. Friends that give big hugs, even if there are miles of separation. Friends that love us in spite of our flaws.

Faith is strength, a strong unshakeable belief. Mine is in Christ. Others have theirs, and having faith or seeking faith gives a sense of solace. A place of peacefulness. A place to draw from.

Self-care is pretty self-explanatory. Being able to listen to your body and respond appropriately to provide the necessary adjustments to keep yourself healthy.  It is important when we are going through stressful, life altering times to slow down, take a break and breathe.

Give yourself permission to unplug for a while, take a walk with a friend or loved one, even the four-legged kind. It's okay to laugh; laughter is healing to the body by releasing endorphins and lifting our mood. Sleep, exercise, stay hydrated and nourish yourself with good food, clean food. You are worth it.
