Did you know that good friendships can make you healthier & happier? Wikipedia defines Friendship as a relationship of mutual affection between two or more people. And according to the Mayo Clinic friends help boost your immune system by providing support and companionship, as well as providing a sense of belonging. Life can get busy with our family and work responsibilities, leaving little time to stay connected to our friends. Most of us have that one person, we can call no matter how long it has been, and pick up right where we left off. Having connections where we feel love and supported is a vital part of well-being.
“In poverty and other misfortunes of life, true friends are a sure refuge."~AristotleSomething we started offering at the Studio is Girls's Night Out. Part of our mission is to nurture an environment of creativity; a place where friends can gather and enjoy each other's company while having fun. Recently, long time friends and their daughters planned a night at the studio to learn about essential oils while creating perfumed oils. They shared how they met when the girls were in elementary school, and plan times to be together as a group. "We like doing fun things together." It was entertaining watching them laugh and carry on with each other. Hosting a Bachelorette Party was equally exciting. The Mother & Sister of the Bride planned it several months in advance, and transformed my Studio classroom in a matter of minutes to match the nature theme of the wedding. The Bride wanted to have something creative for her bridesmaids to experience. Choosing our Terrarium Class was perfect, as they would each have something they could take home and continue to nurture. This past week I met the sweetest older woman. She ventured into the Studio and we chatted about her love of Scotland and her last visit; along with my wishes to travel there in the near future. She shared about her two closest friends and how she missed their get togethers. Delighted to know that we offered creative classes, she invited her friends to come along for some fun, one more time. I am really looking forward to this one, and learning the history that these three long time friends share. Friendship is sacred. Nurture it. Embrace it. Enjoy it. Wander. Explore. Create. Enjoy. ~Theresa
